Call for visual artst for partcipaton in the project and exhibiton “Artsts and Refugees”

The project with working title “Artists and Refugees, “is aimed to narrate the experiences of war, refugee crises and aggression on Ukraine to audiences in the Western Balkans through creating artworks that will be exhibited in joint exhibition in Skopje and Pristina in April and May 2024. Main idea of the project is to enable direct contact of selected artists with refuges from Ukraine that are at the moment displaced and living in Romania.
The basic approach of the project is to amplify the voices of Ukrainian people and refugees, providing them a possibility to share their stories with the world through the emotive power of art. The project will directly connect selected artists with refugees from Ukraine, enabling artists to enter deep in to the thematic of Russian aggression on Ukraine and at same time enabling refugees to share their personal stories and experiences in order to seek the truth, prevent disinformation’s and contribute in production of artworks based on their testimonies and stories. In that direction the project plan direct visit for selected artists from North Macedonia and Kosovo in Ukrainian refugee’s communities in Romania, with secured and organized logistic by the organizers during the visit in Romania.
The project is jointly implemented by Contemporary Art Center from Skopje, North Macedonia; SBunker from Prishtina; Kosovo and Malva Ukrainian community organization from Romania. The project realization is supported by TechSoup Network’s Digital Activism Program.
The artists from North Macedonia and Kosovo that want to joint projects need to meet following criteria:
Be able to travel on study trip in Romania in Ukrainian refugee communities between 04 and 08 March 2024. Study trip will be organized in region of Bucharest in Romania, all expenses for travel, accommodation, food and similar travel related costs will be covered by organizers.
Be able to develop and fully produce artworks by 31 March 2024 Each selected artist will receive fee of 800.00 USD (gross amount) for development and production of the artworks that will be selected for the exhibition. Organizers will select 7 artists – 3 from North Macedonia, 3 from Kosovo and 1 from Romania/Ukraine that will participate in the project and exhibition.
All interested artists that want to participate in the project should send short CV, artist portfolio (or link from portfolio) and short letter or intention/motivation for participation in the project. Artists from North Macedonia should send their intentions letters and other documents via email to Nikola Pisarev from Contemporary Art Center Skopje , email: nikola@scca.org.mk , while artists from Kosovo should send their intention later and documents to Fitim Gashi from Sbunker NGO email: fitim@sbunker.net no later than 15.02.2024.
